Books for Parents

Not all of these books I have read but I wanted to limit them to one spot on the webpage for quick reference, although they're listed in other areas of my website. Those I have read I will share my thoughts on.

Sensory Processing Disorder
  • The Out-of-Sync Child ~
This book really helped me to understand my child with SPD. I think the most insightful part of this book was the checklists to help me figure out what type of sensory input my child needed compared to me just taking wild guesses although sometimes I still have to do that with my son.

by Sharon Heller Ph.D
  • Sensory Integration and the Child

Autism Spectrum

Activities
  • Handprints: Home Programs for Hand Skills
by Valeria Pleraccini and Daria K Vance

Food and Eating Issues
  • Just Take a Bite
by Lori Ernsperger Ph.D and Tania Stegen-Hanson OTR/L
  • Treating Eating Problems
by Keith E. Williams and Richard M. Fox
  • The Out-of-Sync Child has Fun
This book was so insightful as to activities I could do with my son. The book is broken down into activities to do with your child by the sensory input needed which makes it perfect in those frazzled moments when you're trying to figure out what to do with your child to help them get the sensory input they need especially if they've lost interest in what you have for them to do. Most of the activities in this book are cheap or you have around your house which has made me fall in love with this book.
